Sandra K. McClelland (née Kelly)
July 24, 1939 – December 8, 2025
Sandra “Sandy” K. McClelland, beloved wife of John C. McClelland, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025. She was the loving mother of Robert McClelland (Faith), Nancy Nicoletti (John), and Lisa Hoppes (James), and a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren: Robert Jr (Alex), Grace, Caleb and Joshua (Naomi) McClelland; Alexander, Sarah and Joseph Nicoletti; Adah and Matilda Hoppes, and one great-grandchild Clare McClelland.
Sandy grew up in Folcroft, PA, and graduated from Sharon Hill High School, where she excelled as a drum majorette, ballerina, and athlete in basketball and field hockey. She even won a Bathing Beauty contest during her honeymoon in 1959—a testament to her vibrant spirit.
Throughout her life, Sandy dedicated herself to her family and community. She was an active school and library volunteer, chaperoning countless field trips, cheering at games, and applauding every performance. She was a decades-long member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Her love for life extended to lively times with neighbors at Lake Wallenpaupack, enjoying boat rides, cookouts, cocktails and heated horseshoe matches for $.50 each game, as well as live polka music, often playing her boomba alongside accordionists.
Sandy and John shared a passion for travel, exploring by motorhome, houseboat, car, plane, and cruise ship. River cruises with John, her late sister Barbara, and brother-in-law Bill were among her favorite adventures. At home, Sandy mastered numerous arts and crafts—sewing, knitting, leather tooling, stained glass, and her cherished counted cross stitch. She also partnered with John in real estate investments, lending her keen eye for design to kitchen floorplans and home renovations.
Sandy’s resilience through years of health challenges was remarkable, and her pride in her children and grandchildren was unwavering. Her humor, creativity, and strength will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
