Ruth Anne Rude
Rude, Ruth Anne (nee Schnell), March 26, 2016. Wife of Frederick R. Rude, V.M.D., mother of Dr. Catherine S. (Mark) Rude, M.D., Robert S. (Mary) Rude, P.E. and James C. (Maria) Rude, L.S.W. Grandmother of Tristan V. Baker, Anne S. Kennedy, Paul A. Rude, Joseph A.S. Kennedy and Marco G. Natali-Rude, sister of May Alice Lake and aunt of John Lake. Memorial Service is Thursday, March 31st at 11 A.M. in Christ’s Lutheran Church, 700 Pennsylvania Ave., Oreland, where friends may call Thursday 10-11 A.M. Ruth Anne was a dance teacher of modern, ballet and tap, she was a kindergarten teacher at Enfield Elementary School in the Springfield School District and a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Flourtown. As a member of Zion she formed a Sacred Dance Group with teenagers in the Church. Ruth Anne and her dancers would collaboratively interpret sacred scripture, hymns and prayers. A group of Ruth Anne’s fellow adults danced in a Southeastern PA Synod celebration of the 450th birthday of Martin Luther. Ruth Anne was the first and main choreographer for the dancers in the Boar’s Head Festival at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lafayette Hill, which continues today. While a member of Zion in the 1980’s she oversaw the resettlement of several families of Laotian refugees. She was a volunteer at Abington Memorial Hospital with their Poppy Bear program delighting children and adults.
Ruth Anne’s family have requested that memorial contributions in her name be made to God’s Precious Children, 32 Vinemont Road, Reinholds, PA 17569. This a Christian relief and development organization working within the Liberian educational system with a Mission to give young people in need a better chance at a brighter future through an education in the name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God’s Precious Children Mission not only funds tuition to needy students but strives to raise the level of education through teacher training workshops, renovating, equipping and building schools in Liberia.

The world lost a gracious lady when Ruth Ann left us. It was a privilege to know her.
