Miriam Jacquette Timoney

Miriam (nee Jacquette) Timoney, age 97, a longtime Wyndmoor and Foulkeways at Gwynedd resident, on August 17, 2026. She lived a life filled with faith, family and generosity. Miriam was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Thomas J. Timoney, her sister, Gertrude Mansfield, and her brothers, Frank Jacquette and Edwin (Bud) Jacquette.  Beloved mother of Joan Timoney (Steve Wattenmaker), Ellen Melle (John Melle), Judith Timoney, (Olle Ringstrom), Thomas J. Timoney (Perla), Susan Timoney (Josef Neusser), Leslie Timoney (Peter Gannon), Col. Paul Timoney, USMC Retired (Mary), Patrick Timoney (Katherine), and Brian Timoney.  She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and by her sister-in-law, Rita Timoney.

 

With a lifelong love of learning, language, and storytelling, Miriam excelled academically at the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur High School (1947) and Immaculata College (B.S., cum laude, 1951).

 

Miriam’s passion for her faith, family, and community shaped her daily activities and decades of volunteer work at Seven Dolors Parish, Morris Arboretum, Springfield High School, La Salle College High School, Girl Scouts, and Meals on Wheels.

 

When her children were grown, she earned a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Chestnut Hill College (1988).  She then worked as a reading aide at Chestnut Hill Academy and volunteered as a tutor to children in North Philadelphia.  Nothing gave her greater satisfaction than helping a young person unlock the expressive power of reading and writing.  Her love of the written word extended to being an enthusiastic supporter of journalism by reading multiple newspapers daily.

 

Miriam enjoyed following local sports and spent endless hours watching her children and grandchildren play football, softball, baseball, and field hockey as well as wrestle and row.

 

She is remembered for her love of sharing news, stories, and laughter with family and friends and for her great kindness and concern for those in need.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to Miriam’s viewing on Saturday, August 29, 9 am to 10 am at St. Genevieve RC Church, 1225 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, PA 19031. Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 am. Internment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery following the funeral Mass.
