Miltiades “Miltos” Valais
Valais, Miltiades (Miltos) December 9, 1939 – May 26, 2021
Our cherished Miltos, known to many as Poppie, suddenly fell asleep in the Lord early Wednesday morning.
Born in Athens, Greece to John (Ioannis) Valais and Georgia Raptis Valais, Miltos voyaged to America at the age of 19. He worked for many years in the shipping industry, loved mapping out routes, traveling and was multilingual which allowed him to communicate with many people. Some even called him “Mr. Map.” Need to know where to go? Call Miltos!
Miltos will forever be remembered as a man of many words. There were no strangers in his life. If you didn’t know him you were his friend by the time you finished meeting him. He had the very rare talent of forming lifetime friendships through school, work and community.
Poppie loved his family. He showered his love on his wife, children which he referred to as his “3 Million”, siblings, cousins, grandkids, nieces, nephews and all that knew him. His loss will forever be felt, but his soul now rests with the Lord.
Miltos was the precious husband of Anthe Valais (nee) Capitan. Beloved son-in-law of Angie (Bob) Ross and James (Tina) Capitan. Dear brother of Matthew Valais and Kiki (George) Morris and honored brother-in-law of Perry Capitan. Devoted father of three beautiful children Athena Valais, Dianna (John) Rambo and Elizabeth (Paul) Edson. Adoring Poppie to Cheri (Kerry), Konstantinos, Michael, Irene and Kristi. Faithful Uncle to Georgia, Yanni, Delia and Christopher. He is also survived by his loving dog and best friend always by his side, Aleeke.
Relatives and friends are invited to his graveside service, Tuesday, June 1st at 10am at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery 3301 W Cheltenham Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19150. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Miltos’ name may be made to The Salvation Army, 701 N. Broad Street, Phila., PA 19123.

“This is my comfort in my distress, that your promise gives me life.”
Psalm 119:50. He was always involved, always engaged, alwaysinterested, always opinionated. His light and love live on. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Mimi

May all your happy and cherished memories together get you through this difficult time.
Thinking of you all.
Too many thoughts in my mind. Everyone to know that my father was never mean to me he was such the most kind soul that ever walked this earth. I told my husband I lost my hero and I need him to be my hero now because the man I only ever listen to has gone.
I’ve excepted this gracefully and I understand life is truly a gift from God so all of you who are reading this please treasure your love ones hold them tight and when we start complaining let’s realize there’s so much more out there.
Exodus 20
For my beloved Poppie
Honor your father and your mother that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
Am heartbroken at the sudden loss of my wonderful neighbor and friend, Miltos Valais. He was greatly beloved by so many that I sometimes called him the Mayor of Flourtown! I am so grateful for all the time, kindness, opinions, laughter, and directions he gave me for nearly 20 years of friendship. My deepest condolences to my friend Anthe, and his daughters Tina, Dianna, Lizzie and their families, his siblings, and many, many friends. Truly all who knew him loved him, and now he rests in Christ. His memory will live for generations.
May Milton’ memory be eternal ✝️
May Miltos’ memory be eternal ✝️
My prayers and love to you, Anthe, Diana, Tina and Lizzie and to your families. Miltos was always so very kind and generous to me, and he made his caring and love known to us-to me and to my sons.
Miltos was truly full of joy, lifted us all up, and was one of the most welcoming people I have ever known. So many joyful moments with Miltos have now become precious memories.
Love and prayers,
Rita
He lived a good life and I am so grateful that we were able to publish a book about him for his 80th Birthday! He had many stories to share and the family now has them archived. He is missed.
