Mildred A. Halsted
Halsted, Mildred A. (nee Albers). (July 31, 2019). Beloved wife of the late Charles. Loving mother to Stephen (Lisa) Halsted and Linda (David) Simunov and Grandma to her 5 grandchildren, Michelle, Chrissie and Stephanie Halsted and Stephen and Mark Simunov. She was pre-deceased in 2013 by her husband Charles of 58 years.
Mildred was born in 1931 and raised in Philadelphia, graduating from Olney High School. She began her career as a legal secretary at Ballard law firm until her marriage to Charles in 1955. She then moved to Oreland where she lived in the same house up until her passing. Later she became a teacher’s aide in Upper Dublin Schools, assisting elementary students with reading for over 25 years.
Reading was her primary hobby – she read the newspaper everyday and had a large library of books. She and Charlie loved to travel and did many cruises and international trips later in life, as well as numerous car trips with close friends. She loved to play cards and other games with her family.
Mildred was a devoted Philly sports fan. She and Charlie had season tickets to the Phillies for many years. In recent years she watched nearly every game on TV and always enjoyed talking with everyone she met about the Phillies.
She greatly loved her family and friends they all loved her and will miss her tremendously.
Relatives and friends are invited to Mildred’s Viewing Sunday 8/4, 5-7 pm, Craft Funeral Home of Erdenheim, 814 Bethlehem Pike and Monday 8/5, 10-11am at Oreland Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1119 Church Rd. where her Funeral Service will follow at 11am. Interment at Whitemarsh Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions in Mildred’s name may be made to Samaritan’s Purse https://www.samaritanspurse.org , Salvation Army https://www.salvationarmyusa.org .
We will miss our mom and grandma
Our hearts go out the entire Halsted family at this difficult time. We are glad we had the opportunity to get to know Mildred, who was devoted to her family. She was a kind soul, and know she is now at peace.
