Mary Ellen Wolford

We regretfully announce the passing of Mary Ellen Wolford, age 94, of Fort Washington, PA, on November 11, 2022. Mary Ellen was born and raised in Duncannon, PA to parents Nelson and Gladys Dowdrick and with sister Dorothy (Klinepeter).

 

She graduated from Duncannon High School and in 1948 married her husband, the late Boyd C. Wolford. Mary Ellen and Boyd moved to Oreland, PA in 1954 where they shared 59 years as devoted husband and wife while having raised three children; Boyd C. (Susan) Wolford, Jr.; Lu Wolford (late Gary) Smith and Steve (Kim) Wolford.

 

Mary Ellen was the proud grandmother of Hayley (Eric) Grabowski and Aiden Wolford, and great grandmother to Lukas Grabowski.

 

She was an avid golfer and longtime member at Manufacturers Golf and Country Club. Mary Ellen also enjoyed gardening, traveling, bridge, bingo and was an active  member of the Antiquarians organization and member of the Oreland Presbyterian Church.

 

Friends and relatives are invited to Mary Ellen’s visitation Thursday Nov. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Oreland Evangelical Presbyterian Church, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary Ellen’s name may be made to the Oreland Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1119 Church Rd., Oreland, PA 19075.
