Linda G. Painter
Linda G. Painter (nee Nisbet), May 26, 1955 – May 14, 2025, age 69, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday night. Linda was born in Wilmington, Delaware to Grace (nee Farren) and J. Raymond Nisbet. She lived in several states growing up, having spent most of her life in Oreland, Pennsylvania.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband G. Andrew Painter, and her infant daughter Mary Painter. Linda will be happy to be reunited with them.
Linda dedicated her life to caring for others. In her early years, she worked as a devoted nanny to many children, offering warmth, guidance, and stability. Affectionately known as “Camp Aunt Linda” she created lasting memories for her nieces and nephews, filling their childhoods with joy and adventure. In her later years, she continued her life of service as a compassionate caregiver for the elderly, offering comfort and companionship to those in need.
Life presented many obstacles and challenges that Linda viewed as part of her journey. She never complained and always maintained a positive outlook. Linda was a unique person with a magical view of the world. She loved everything bright, colorful, and sunny. She made everyone feel included and special, and she was always there when you needed her.
Linda liked listening to local live music and attended the Philadelphia Folk Festival for over 40 years where she made many lifelong friends. She was a longtime member of the Philadelphia Horticultural Society and looked forward to attending the Philadelphia Flower Show every year.
Linda was a loyal, loving, kind and caring wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her, especially her sisters Nancy Nisbet and Diane Barraclough (James), niece Grace A. Barraclough (Mitchell), nephews James J. Barraclough (Kirsten), Nicholas R. Barraclough (Ashley), grandniece Lainey Barraclough, cousins David Bradley (Marcia), Kathryn Bradley, Paul Bradley (Sarah), Jamie Bradley (Maeve), and the Allen family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Linda’s favorite local band The Mighty Manatees via Venmo @William-Hodgson-8 or a charity of your choice.
Linda was so endearing. And the warmth of the kindness that Nancy provided was truly inspiring.
May Linda rest in the peace she so richly deserves
Thank you for your kindness. You and Nancy helped me feel welcomed into the Compost at Philly Folk Fest. You will be greatly missed and even though we are sad, we know you are at peace and in your glory. ✨????????
