Evelyn S. McCauley

Evelyn Stewart McCauley born March 1^st 1929, peacefully passed September 11^th 2022. Predeceased by her father David Alexander Brady from County Antrim, Ireland, Mother MaryJane Brady from County Donegal, Ireland and brother David Alexander Brady Jr (June). Beloved wife of the late Thomas McCauley (Tommy). Loving mother to Linda (Scott) Darling. Adoring grandmother of Kyle and Austin Darling. She will also be missed by her niece and nephew Beth Ann and David Allen Brady.

Evelyn was born and raised in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, PA. She met the love of her life and married Tommy in August 1952. After their six-month honeymoon in Ireland, they bought a farm in Harleysville. They then moved to Oreland in 1966 where they lived and raised their daughter Linda. Evelyn had a strong work ethic. Her working days started by helping her father and brother stoke furnaces before school. She then worked at the ACME plant in Philadelphia. She was employed at GlaxoSmithKline as an inspector for over thirty years.  But her best job was babysitting for her two grandsons.

She enjoyed family outings and gatherings. Evelyn and Tommy hosted many events at their homes and always welcomed friends and relatives. Throughout her life she enjoyed going and visiting many places with Tommy. Evelyn always looked forward her car rides and being out and about. Some of her special places included trips to Ireland, the Poconos, Cape May, their hunting cabin in Morris, PA and Longwood Gardens. Many of these she visited this past summer.  She was proud of her family and especially her grandsons. She beamed ear to ear when Kyle and Austin were around her. Everyone enjoyed her kind hearted and happy go lucky personality. She was always full of fun and laughter. She will be missed immensely.

Relatives and friends are welcome to Evelyn’s visitation on September 18^th from 4-6pm at Craft Funeral Home in Erdenheim, 814 Bethlehem Pike.  Another visitation will be on Monday September 19^th from 9-10am at the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill, 8855 Germantown Ave, Philadelphia 19118. The funeral service of Gratitude and Praise to God for the Life and Spirit of Evelyn S. McCauley will follow at 10AM. Interment Ivy Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in Evelyn’s name can be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
