Elmer James “Jim” Cummings Jr.

Elmer James “Jim” Cummings Jr., 78, formerly of Maple Glen, PA and Avalon, NJ, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2022. He was the beloved husband of the late Joyce (Shoemaker) Cummings for 33 years. Born on February 15, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA, Jim was the youngest son of the late Elmer and Mary (Hagaman) Cummings of Wyndmoor, PA. Jim graduated from Springfield Township High School, Class of 1962 and The Pennsylvania State University, Class of 1966. He was employed with the Abington School District for over 35 years prior to his retirement in 2004. Outside of work, Jim had a lifetime love of Corvettes and enjoyed spending time at the shore. He was an avid tennis player when he was not in his garage tinkering with one of his many projects.

 

Jim is survived by his sons, Jamie Cummings (Jennifer) of Worcester and Jarrett Cummings (Amy) of Collegeville; grandchildren Julia, Audrey, Chad and Patrick; brother J. Dawson Cummings of Doylestown.
