Ella Ruth Alburger
Ella Ruth Alburger (nee MacMoran) passed away peacefully on November 8, 2021. Daughter of the late Elmer and Ida (Paulus) MacMoran, she was the beloved wife of the late Herbert J. Alburger and loving mother to Ruth (Charles) Bowden, Eric Alburger, David (Terry) Alburger, Steven (Christine) Alburger, Karen (Bryan) Amspacher and the late Mark (Ellen Koudis) Alburger. She was adored by her 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She is survived by two sisters, Jeanne Gehring and Edith (Peg) Czwienk, and was preceded in death by another sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Hunsworth.
Ruth was 98 years old. She was the epitome of wit, resilience and intelligence. Born in Philadelphia in 1922, she spent her entire life in the Philadelphia area, residing in Oreland for over 35 years. She moved to Gwynedd Estates in Ambler in the mid 1990s.
She had the gift of music and instilled this love into all her children. She studied music from a young age and played the piano for most of her life. She was the accompanist for religious services at Gwynedd Estates for many years. She studied voice and sang in various choirs. Her passion for music was contagious, and she shared this gift of song along her journey through life. She always had a song in her heart.
Ruth had a strong Christian Faith which she passed on her children. She loved the Lord and was devoted to her church.
She was educated and strong and she was a fearless inspiration. Nothing overwhelmed her. She faced every obstacle with calm, persistence, and a great sense of humor. That indeed was her superpower and her legacy. She had an incredible wit, and an uncanny ability to make everyone smile.
In later years, she lived alone, continuing as an esteemed matriarch of an ever-growing extended family. The ensuing generations looked to her for guidance. She passed away just shy of her 99th birthday. Even to the end, through her bravery, she continued to inspire and strengthen her family even in the hardest of moments.
Relatives and friends are invited to share in the celebration of her incredible life, on Saturday November 20, 2021, at 10 a.m. at Oreland Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Paper Mill and Church Rds., Oreland, PA 19075. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Philabundance or Oreland Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
On behalf of Oreland Evangelical Presbyterian Church we extend to you our condolences. It is an honor to ‘host’ this homegoing service of such an amazing woman. Her legacy has been left to her family, friends, and church family, and for that we are grateful. May God’s love and blessing surround you in this time as you both grieve and celebrate a life well lived for Jesus!
