John “Jack” Soeffing
June 3, 1932-February 26, 2026
Jack was born and lived boldly in Philadelphia, a city that he loved. He grew up with his parents John and Katherine, sister Sue and cousin Kathy. The family summered in Milford, Connecticut where Jack met his passions; cars and sailing!
He married the love of his life Geraldine “Geri” Pressler and their children Christopher (Amy) and Amy provided a loving and engaging family life. When asked what his grandchildren Pressler, Jenny, and Winn should call him, he simply replied “Jack.” So they did!
As a third generation family business owner, Jack transitioned Adolph Soeffing Corporation to a thriving consulting firm impacting commercial building across the country. Jack was widely respected in his craft by the largest architecture firms in the city.
Jack was a Patriot, and a proud member of the Union League of Philadelphia, joining on May 20, 1963. He made lifelong friends at the
Hearth Club Table, Sproat Club Table, Aviation and Yacht Clubs. Jack introduced the League to his family and friends and spent wonderful times at Liberty Hill, the Guard House, and The League House. Amor Patriae Ducit
Jack lived a life of service, particularly with the Rotary Club District 7450, advancing charity by Chairing
the International Grants Committee. He got involved at all levels of Rotarian service.
Jack and his wife Geri entertained lavishly, loved deeply and showed genuine care for family and friends. They made lifelong friends who they considered family. Jack Soeffing was a gentleman’s gentleman and he walked through life knowing that he was loved.
Until he slipped into glory, Jack lived in his famed George Woodward French Village “gatehouse” home with his loving daughter Amy and her children.
Convertible car enthusiast, gardener (for his 80th birthday Jack asked for an apple tree ladder) lover of history, family patriarch; Jack Soeffing had a life well lived.
