Edward J. Donahue
Edward Joseph Donahue (August 11, 2026), 71, of North Cape May, NJ, passed away peacefully at his residence. Loving father to Sean (Daniela Davoli) Donahue, and Maria Donahue. Adoring grandfather to Mattea Donahue. Brother of Felice McGonigle, Julia Hanahan, and the late Gerard Donahue and the late James Donahue.
Born in Elkins Park, PA on December 16,1954, Ed was the son of the late James F and Julia (Hoban) Donahue.
Ed “Duds” graduated from Cheltenham High School in 1973, excelled in football and baseball, having participated in the Montgomery County Football All Star Game in 1972 as their center, and the Baseball All Star Game at third base, one of the last games played in Connie Mack Stadium. He went on to complete his Associates Degree from Montgomery County Community College. In 1983, Ed received his Apprenticeship from Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 19 and became a dedicated “Tin Knocker” for 40 years.
He took great pride in his work. Outside of work, he found joy in golf—both playing the game himself and watching it whenever he could. He cherished the time spent on the course, the competition with his friends, and the simple enjoyment that golf brought him.
Throughout his life, he was fortunate to have a number of lifelong friendships that remained important to him over the years. The bonds he formed with those friends were a meaningful part of his life, and he valued the memories, companionship, and shared experiences they created together.
He will be remembered for the life he lived, the work he devoted himself to, and the interests that brought him joy throughout the years.
Relatives and friends are invited to Edward’s visitation Wednesday 8/19, 9:30 to 10:30am at St Anthony of Padua RC Church, 259 Forest ave., Ambler, PA 19002. His Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30am. Interment private. A celebration of life luncheon at Flourtown Country Club will be at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Edward’s name may be made to the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 19 Karl Weinberg scholarship fund, 1301 S. Columbus Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19147.
