Julie Anne Bleick Moat

Julie Anne Bleick Moat passed away peacefully on Saturday November 8th, 2025 after spending the day with family. She lived a full and blessed life being pre-deceased in recent past by her husband, Stanley and both of her siblings, Elizabeth and Edward as well as countless friends from around the country.

 

Julie lived a life of travel from an early age. She formed lifelong friendships all over the US but her dream was to raise a family in a single community. It may have started in Ohio in 1957 with the birth of Leslie Anne but the roots were grown in Philadelphia. The family settled in with the birth of Elliott Andrew in 1965 followed by Julie Thompson 1968.

 

Julie rarely shied away from a challenge, competition or chance at adventure. It was in this spirit that she took the newly minted degree from her beloved alma mater, William & Mary, to New York City at the tender age of 20. It was also the spark that ultimately ignited a blind date into a 66 year marriage to Stanley Moat.

 

Julie’s understated style often masked both her enthusiasm and talents. Tennis, squash, golf and bridge were all hobbies she learned as an adult. It was not a coincidence that the library shelves were dotted with trophies that were almost never mentioned.

 

She returned to school and obtained advanced degrees in Business Administration and as an Educational Specialist for Adult Education. Optimizing both she operated “ProMotion” a company that facilitated promotional tours for authors while simultaneously teaching remedial reading to adults at a local center for just over 15 years

 

Highlights from ProMotion included Ron Wood (Rolling Stones guitarist) who she simply described as “lovely” and professional cook Rachael Ray, who finalized her first TV deal in Julie’s Subaru. It was reported to be a wild celebration on both sides of the phone.

 

Julie’s ultimate passion was gardening. For almost 30 years she surveyed historical records, researched the work of gardeners and countless catalogs to curate an accurate and beautiful formal garden for the Druim Moir neighborhood. The effort included many volunteers from the community and these connections made for some of her happiest memories.

 

Julie and Stan raised their family as part of and were active members of The Church of St. Martins in-the-Fields parish for more than half a century.

 

A small memorial service is to be held on Saturday December 06, 2025 at 11 am.
