Roy H. Powell
Roy Harry Powell, age 73, died on Friday, June 9, 2023 at his home in Wyndmoor, PA. He was born in Birmingham, England where he began his career in mechanical engineering. He later shifted his career to psychiatric nursing and moved to the United States to marry the love of his life, Marie Powell. As a nurse, and as a member of his community, his passion for helping others, and his love of adventure, was evident and inspired all who knew him. His spirited humor, practical jokes, and absolutely awful puns, will be sorely missed. Roy is survived by his sister Ann Williams of Wales, United Kingdom, as well as many cousins and local friends who cared for him. A memorial will be on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 11am at Craft Funeral Home at 814 Bethlehem Pike, Erdenheim, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Grace Lutheran Church at 801 E Willow Grove Ave, Wyndmoor, PA or to the program of Alcoholics Anonymous at Post Office Box 2407, James A Farley Station, New York, NY 10116-2407.
I knew Roy for many years. Meeting him at the American Legion Post. I knew Marie and served with her in the Ladies Auxiliary. We were friends and traveled with them to Aruba. Roy was funny, kind,and a caring man. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. RIP ROY
Roy was a dear friend. He gave of himself without looking for
anything in return. He looked at every day as an adventure.
He found joy in many things in life, especially humor.
My life is far better because he was a part of it. Love you
and miss you my friend. Rest in Peace.
So sad to hear of Roy’s passing. We had been married for 17.years before he unexpectedly moved to America to be with Marie.
