John C. Rodgers

John C. Rodgers, Sr., of Blue Bell, PA, formerly of Huntingdon Valley, PA, and Grantham, NH, passed away on February 13, 2018. John is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Barbara (nee Johnston).  Loving father to John C. (Liz Butler) Rodgers Jr, Andrew J. Rodgers, and Susan F. (John Rombold) Rodgers.  He will also be missed by his 6 grandchildren: Jamie, Kelly, Cooper, Anna, Rex, and Eve.

John graduated from the William Penn Charter School and attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.  He served in the U.S. Army in England and France from 1945 to 1947.  Working at Huntingdon Industries in Bethayres, PA, John helped design special machinery for the corrugated container industry.  Prior to his retirement, he and his friend, Pat Mann, formed Mann & Rodgers Machine Co., Inc.  John enjoyed spending time with his family; his favorite activities included skiing, biking, tennis, sailing, and travel.

Relatives and friends are invited to John’s Memorial Service, July 13, at 11am at Normandy Farms Estates.  Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s memory may be made to the Samaritan Fund at Normandy Farms Estates, 9000 Twin Silo Drive, Blue Bell, Pa., 19422 or William Penn Charter School Scholarship Fund, 3000 West School House Lane, Philadelphia, PA. 19144.
