Beatrice C. Gardner
Beatrice Carson Gardner nee’ Sheak was born August 27, 1921 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Charles Montford Sheak and Elizabeth Lynn Welsh Sheak. On March 3, 1945 she married Cpl. William F. Gardner at the Galveston Army Air Field in Galveston, Texas; Chaplain Charles William Goldbeck, officiating. The wedding was witnessed by her twin sister, Elizabeth Sheak and E.J. Schmidt. She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Gardner, her parents, Charles and Elizabeth Sheak, and six siblings: her twin sister Elizabeth Schmidt, Margaret Violet Crochunis, Edwin Paul Sheak, Charles Henry Sheak, Jack Sheak and Albert George Sheak. She is survived by nieces and nephews, the closest is Jacquelyn Ameye of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Beatrice worked as a secretary, most recently for Dr. Sutliff. She was active in her church, The First Presbyterian Church in Germantown. Church members will remember her fondly as a dedicated choir member and the master of the church kitchen, Christmas dinners and coffee hour. Bea played the carillon at St. Thomas in Whitemarsh. She supported her husband Bill, in the Springfield Rotary. After his death she continued to play an active role in the Rotary herself. Bea was an ardent Phillies fan.
