Marion L. “Mel” Fetterolf
Fetterolf, Marion L. “Mel” (née Liesau) (February 3, 2020). Beloved wife of the late Morton H. Fetterolf Jr. Loving mother to Carole Fahrner (Wiley) Wallace and Raymond E. (Diane Smith) Fahrner. Stepmother to Morton H. (Melissa) Fetterolf III and Elizabeth (Doug) Wade. She will also be missed by her 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Mel Fetterolf has been a lifetime resident of the Philadelphia area. She began her studies at the Graphic Sketch Club, and was awarded a Board of Education full scholarship to the Philadelphia Museum College of Art.
A lyrical and sensitive artist, Mel is attuned to the changing light and luminous colors that surround her. Her subject matter is as varied as the world it encompasses. From the beaches of Florida to the mountains of Norway and the harbors of Italy and Greece, Mel has captured the essence of the area.
Mel has won numerous awards in selected group shows throughout the United States. Her paintings are a valued part of private and corporate collections. Mel has earned Signature Membership in the American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, and the Philadelphia Watercolor Society. Mel Fetterolf is a respected, admired artist locally and nationaly.
Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral service on Friday, 2/7, 11 AM, at St. Thomas’ Church, Whitemarsh, 7020 Camp Hill Rd., Fort Washington, PA 19034. Interment to follow in the church yard. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mel’s name may be made to the University of the Arts, 320 S Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19102.
The 37 years of friendship Mel and I shared have been filled with many lovely times together. I appreciate our almost four decades of insightful and fun after dinner conversations on the phone (evening was always Mel’s best time to chat) and I will miss hearing her voice, listening to, dancing to the music she loved and creating and discussing art.
The years of memories of friendship with Mort and Mel are cherished as well.

Mel loved to celebrate our family, friends, and life.
