John J. McGlade III
McGlade, John J. III passed peacefully on October 12, 2020 surrounded by his wife and his girls, whom he loved and cherished dearly. Beloved husband of Susan (nee Leone), loving father of Alicia and Anna McGlade, and adoring son of Rose (nee Beckett) and the late John J. McGlade Jr. He will be missed dearly by his brothers and sisters, Joseph, Patrick, Rose, Kevin, Eileen, Anne, James, his nieces and nephews, extended family, and countless friends whom he all held closest to his heart. Family and friends meant the world to John and he was truly blessed and thankful for them all.
John worked for ACME markets for 46 years with an unmatched work ethic and was a member of the American Legion Riders Post #308. John was also known for his love of soccer which he played and coached with his whole heart. His passion as an athlete was equally matched by his daughters and he was their #1 fan. John lit up every room and always knew how to make people laugh. John’s pride and love of his Irish heritage ran deep and shone bright in the Irish songs he sang and traditions he shared.
John’s strength was an inspiration during his courageous battle with cancer. His legacy will live on forever through the jokes he left behind, the lessons he instilled in his family, and the positive impact he made on every heart he touched. Our family wishes to thank Penn Medicine Hospice and we are grateful for the care and compassion shown to our family by all the nurses and doctors that cared for John along the way.
Due to the current circumstances, John’s services will be private. You are able to attend the Mass of Christian Burial via Zoom, on Saturday 10/24 at 10:30am. Please see link, https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81581026345?pwd=bXg0VkZnZWRRTnRONmFzclhka0s2UT09 In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s memory may be made to the LUNGevity Foundation.
Very sad to hear this news. John was a great guy and an inspiration to those he coached in his many years in soccer including my daughters.
So sad for the family to lose such a wonderful guy, but he will be welcomed with open arms in Heaven. He fought the good fight and will be at peace after that valiant battle. He was loved greatly and will be missed by many. Prayers for all his family and friends.
John and I played soccer together under Ron Tompkins at Upper Dublin- Enfield. So sorry for your family’s loss. I was a little younger than him, but graduated from BMcD too. He was an awesome competitor. Sounds like he competed right until the end. Prayers for you all.

I recently was fortunate to connect with cousins I didn’t know well in younger years. John welcomed me and my sister and it was instantly being included into family with my Irish cousins. I loved the stories he told and witnessed the love in this family. While I didn’t know him for long long, he touched my heart. Love and prayers to his family. ❤❤❤
